Senior Portrait Guides
I’ll guide you through the entire process
Hello Seniors, families and friends! Here is a checklist for everything you need for a seamless and stress-free portrait experience. Read through this carefully before your session. A little preparation goes a long way!
01. LOCATION
Your Location(s) will be selected ahead of time. Please communicate any preferences for location.
Double check for conflicting activities at locations such as scheduled activities on an athletics field, or event at a park before selecting
Your photographer will confirm all permits/requirements at the site are met. Additional fees may apply. For more information on guides visit kylethomascreative.com/locations
02. OUTFITS
Make sure all shirts, pants, and outerwear are properly ironed or steamed - wrinkles show up clearly on camera. Avoid large logos, busy patterns, or text on clothing
Transport outfits on hangers to keep them wrinkle-free and organized. A bin or bag for accessories makes transitions smoother.
Don't forget anything that represents who you are - letter jacket, sports gear, instruments, jerseys, or any meaningful props.
03. DETAILS
- Hair styled and ready
- Facial hair trimmed or groomed
- Eyebrows tidied
- Nails clean (no dirt underneath)
- Clean shoes
- Teeth brushed
Some things can be retouched in editing, but it's always easiest to prepare beforehand. We'll do a quick on-site check together before we start shooting, so don't stress about perfection. Just come prepared!
04. DAY BEFORE/OF
Get a good night's rest. It makes a genuine difference in how you look and feel on camera. Don't underestimate this one!
Hydrate. Drinking plenty of water in the days leading up helps your skin look its best.
Arrive early. Allow extra time for parking and walking to the designated meet-up location. Running late adds unnecessary stress!
05. WEATHER
We shoot in overcast and partly cloudy conditions, these are actually ideal for portraits! Soft, diffused light is a photographer's best friend.
In the event of heavy rain or severe weather, I'll reach out as soon as possible to reschedule. A little wind and clouds are nothing to worry about.
06. FINAL DETAILS
It's always better to be over-prepared than to show up missing something. If you have any questions about outfits, location, timing, or anything else, please reach out before your session. I'm happy to help!
Additional details specific to your session, including timing and meet-up point, will be communicated directly.
